More Urban Myths
More details have been revealed about Sky Arts’ next batch of Urban Myths.
Urban Myths tells remarkable stories about well-known people which may or may not have actually happened. Past episodes have told stories involving Bob Dylan, Muhammad Ali, Andre the Giant and Hitler.
It has already been announced that upcoming episode ‘The Dali and the Cooper’ will focus on a meeting between Salvador Dalí and Alice Cooper, with David Suchet as Dali, Noel Fielding as Cooper and Paul Kaye as Cooper’s manager. Other previously announced episodes coming soon include ‘The Sex Pistols vs Bill Grundy’, with Steve Pemberton playing Bill Grundy, ‘When Bowie Met Bolan’ and ‘Public Enemy feat. Kev Wells’.

And details have now been revealed about more of the new episodes…
The most TVO-linked one has to be ‘Backstage at Live Aid’, which is inspired by an argument that was said to have occurred between Live Aid organisers Bob Geldof and Midge Ure. It will star Jonas Armstrong as Geldof and Martin Compston as Midge Ure, along with TVO favourites Rufus Jones as Elton John, Dustin Demri-Burns as Francis Rossi and Seb Cardinal as Rick Parfitt.
Here’s the known schedule for Urban Myths so far:
‘Marilyn Monroe And Billy Wilder’ Thursday 12th April
‘Backstage at Live Aid’ Thursday 19th April
‘Johnny Cash and the Ostrich’ Thursday 26th April
‘The Dali and the Cooper’ Thursday 3rd May
‘When Bowie Met Bolan’ Thursday 10th May
‘Agatha Christie’ Thursday 17th May
‘Public Enemy feat. Kev Wells’ Thursday 24th May
‘The Sex Pistols vs Bill Grundy’ Thursday 31st May
All eight episodes will be available on demand via the Sky and NOW TV platforms from Thursday 12th April.
Three of these – “Backstage at Live Aid”, “Public Enemy feat. Kev Wells” and “The Sex Pistols vs Bill Grundy” are some of the best half-hours of TV I’ve seen for ages. The whole series is decent, but these are the best and well worth catching.
