Movie website Rotten Tomatoes is famed for rounding up as many officially published reviews as possible, to inform its readers of what the experts think, and turning these into a percentage ranking for each film, whilst allowing members to provide their own ratings too.

As movie critics are a mixed bunch, even the very best films tend to hover around the mid 90s percentile, and some all time classics which were misjudged at the time of release are often to be found much lower down the list than you’d think.

Only three films have previously remained at 100% with over 100 reviews – 1999’s Toy Story 2, 2008’s Man on Wire and 2016’s Things to Come.

Now Paddington 2 joins that very elite list, with 196 positive (or ‘Fresh’) reviews. And much deserved it is too.

The film – which stars Hugh Bonneville, Sally Hawkins, Julie Walters, Hugh Grant, Jim Broadbent, Peter Capaldi, Brendan Gleeson and Noah Taylor, plus of course, Ben Wishaw as the voice of Paddington – is also a hit with most audiences too, with a 90% Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes, 8.2/10 on imdb, and a current worldwide gross of $150.4 million.

Also featuring cameos from TVO regulars Jessica HynesTom DavisJustin Edwards and Richard Ayoade, the film is currently in cinemas across North America, and is released on DVD & Blu-Ray in the UK on 5th March.
