Matt Berry makes a guest appearance in the latest music video from Irish chamber-pop outfit Pugwash.

Until very recently a four-piece band, Pugwash is now the solo moniker for Thomas Walsh. In their previous iteration, the band supported Matt on his 2013 UK tour, and both Walsh and his former bandmates would regularly make guest appearances during Berry’s set.

Matt was also a guest narrator on Walsh’s Sticky Wickets album made in collaboration with The Divine Comedy’s Neil Hannon as The Duckworth Lewis Method that same year, with his cricket-whites gracing the single cover art (and lots of merchandise) for the track It’s Just Not Cricket.

It’s not hard to see why these two are drawn together – much as Berry’s music harks back to the folk-influenced prog-rock of the early 1970s, Walsh is greatly inspired by the power-pop choral harmonies of The Beach Boys and Electric Light Orchestra, and his revival of this genre has received great acclaim over the years since his 1999 debut. We’re also pleased to report that he’s also a rather lovely gent, too.

Now he’s back with a brand new album – the excellent Silverlake – and Matt’s guest appearance in the video sees him share the fun of miming in the middle of a field in early Autumn.
