The star studded series features former Inbetweeners actor James Buckley as data marketing assistant Brian who is abruptly transported to a parallel world he doesn’t understand, full of psychopathic Fairies, Shell Men and Throcks, and must find his way back home again.

Following a three-part first series last Autumn, the show has returned for a six episode run, once again featuring Paul Kaye as warlock Howell, who he described as “a cross between Dumbledore and Tommy Cooper with a Timothy Leary diet”, and Sally Phillips as the villainous Slasher Morgan. Also appearing are Sharon Rooney (Stag) as ‘hopeless soothsayer’ Barbara and Ken Collard (Cuckoo) as ‘armchair revolutionary’ Steg, alongside Louis Emerick (Benidorm) as landlord Herman, and two more TVO faces: Tony Way and Richard Sandling as hard-men fairies Springleaf and Chestnut alongside the brilliant Ricky Grover (Murder in Successville) as Hawthorn.

As Series 2 begins, Brian is still trapped in a parallel universe, now with the added disadvantage of having been locked up and charged with starting the snail wars. Steg persuades him to opt for trial by combat against a terrifying warrior called Radnok. Episode Two will see Brian take a magical crash course and, Steg accidentally become a father, Barbara lose her only soothsaying client and the Fairies become obsessed with darts.

Featuring guest appearances from the legendary Simon Day, alongside Phil Daniels, Tim Key, Goodness Gracious Me‘s Nina Wadia, stand-up turned actor Rufus Hound, and Doctor Who legend Sylvester McCoy (Crims), the six part series airs on Dave every Thursday at 9:40pm. If you’re inpatient, you can catch the first episode of the new run now via UKTV Play – and you can take a sneaky peek at the series via our gallery of images below.
