Matt Berry is starring in a Victorian crime comedy pilot for Channel 4.
Filming started today on the pilot, which has no confirmed title so far. It pastiches gritty 70s detective dramas by transposing the action to Victorian London, notorious for the murders of Jack the Ripper.
Matt Berry plays the lead detective in the 30-minute taster, alongside Susan Wokoma (Chewing Gum) and Freddie Fox (Paradise End).
It has been written by Andy Riley and Kevin Cecil, whose previous credits include Tracey Ullman’s Show, Black Books and Little Britain, with Matt Berry supplying additional material. The director is Ben Taylor (Catastrophe).
