Comedy Musical On Ice With Tony Law

Tony Law has partnered with the alternative comedians of the Weirdos collective to create what must surely be one of the most original and ambitious comedy projects of recent years: an ice skating musical comedy.

In The Battle for Icetopia Tony and cast will skate, sing and goof their way through a dystopian future of love, war and ice. The cast includes fellow comedians Ali Brice, Marny Godden, Joz Norris, Michael Brunstrom, Matt Tedford, Holly Burn, Elf Lyons, Eleanor Morton, Matthew Highton, Ben Target and Bob Slayer.

Writer/director Adam Larter told Chortle about the project: “In the world of Icetopia, Tony has to keep his life on track while facing extreme weather, an extreme love story, the most extreme villains… all while trying to pull off the odd pirouette and triple salchow. Tony’s got skating skills that Bolero-era Jayne Torvill would envy – let’s hope that’s still true after the show on October 14. If we all survive the performance, there’s an ice disco afterwards.”

Tony had this to say about the show: “Tony Law on Ice is an important project because it allows Tony Law to go on ice. We need to raise money to cover insurance. And ice.”

It takes place on 14th October at Alexandra Palace Ice Rink in north London. Tickets are £17.50 (£15 concessions; £5 for the after party) and are available here. Doors open at 7pm for an 8pm start.

This is actually happening. So if you feel like your weekly dose of comedy is getting just a bit safe, samey and mainstream, get yourself down to Ally Pally on 14th October for The Battle of Icetopia!
