Peacock Season – FMW Films debut feature featuring a bevy of comedic talent – is ten years old this year, and to celebrate, you can now watch it for free below.
The film was written and produced by Alan Freestone, Fergus March and TVO’s very own James Wren, and was made on a budget of just £58 at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2007. Despite the incredibly limited budget and lo-fi picture and sound, the film is a hilarious bittersweet tale, with an expansive cast of comic talent – led by Wren, Richard Glover, Nina Conti, Adam Hills and Reece Shearsmith.
Also making cameo appearances are, in alphabetical order: Dan Antopolski, Louie Bayliss, John Biddle, Oliver Birch, Brendon Burns, Scott Capurro, Rosie Carnahan-Darby, Sarah Coyle, Rhys Darby, Anil Desai, Justin Edwards, Pete Firman, Leon Fleury, Paul Foot, Alan Freestone, Joy Gohring, Charlotte Jo Hanbury, Richard Herring, Kerry Howard, Sammy J, Matt Kirshen, Mark Lyminster, Fergus March, Cal McCrystal, Craig Murray, Ben Neale, Phil Nichol, Sara Pascoe, Nick Patton, Lucy Porter, Millie Reeves, Stan Stanley, Isy Suttie, Phil Whelans, Glenn Wool and Felicity Wren. Phew!
The film tells the story of advertising executive Keith Graham, who is fired from his job and ends up taking a stand-up comedy show to the Edinburgh Festival. Faced with a cheating wife, world class stand-ups all around, gag hags and financial ruin, Keith must step up to the mic or be crushed by the greatest arts festival in the world.
