Summer Sky Arts Shorts

Sky Arts has announced a new batch of comedy shorts, with several TVO regulars involved including Morgana Robinson, Sharon Horgan and Ellie White.

The seven shorts, themed around summertime, will be available on demand from June 28th. Previously the channel has broadcast shorts for Valentine’s Day, Halloween and more.

Here’s what we can expect from the summer season…

Vicki Pepperdine and Ellie White’s Summer

Alison and Anne Gatehouse (Vicki Pepperdine and Ellie White) are mother and daughter Morris dancers and members of the Grey Dogs troupe, who travel the countryside performing at fetes and events in the competitive world of rural dance. Also starring Katy Wix and Harry Peacock.

Morgana Robinson’s Summer

It’s a hot day in Margate and heavily pregnant Trish gathers her friends and three sisters for her baby shower. As the heat rises during party games, so do tempers as a family secret is revealed. Written by Sharon Horgan and starring Morgana Robinson, Sheridan Smith, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, Gabby Best, Frances Barber and Peter Singh.

David Earl and Joe Wilkinson’s Summer

This silly romp set in the Wild West follows wannabe outlaws Brian and Gulch as they attempt to become the cowboys and heroes they were never destined to be and win the heart of the local saloon’s oddly distinctive prostitute. David Earl and Joe Wilkinson star along with Dan Skinner and Jayde Adams.

Also on the line-up are: Jocelyn Jee Esien’s Summer, about a mother and daughter planning to spend the day at the Notting Hill Carnival;  Ahir Shah’s Summer, about a man taking his girlfriend to meet his grandmother for the first time; Andrew Flintoff’s Summer, about a series of encounters between a tongue-tied dog walker and the woman of his dreams; and Emma Sidi’s Summer, about old school friends trying to recreate the excitement of their teenage holidays.
