There’s a chance to learn from masters of their craft this weekend at the BAFTA Guru Live events in London and Glasgow, and this includes the makers of Murder in Successville and Notes on Blindness.
BAFTA are opening their doors for two inspirational days of masterclasses, panels + Q&As with BAFTA nominees in film, television and gaming, with a full schedule of events available to view over yonder. There’s an eclectic mix guaranteeing something for anyone who wants to learn how to make great work happen. Both TVO related events take place on Sunday afternoon (7th May), at The Big Screen, BAFTA London, so there’s still time to grab hold of tickets.
At 12:15, a Murder in Successville panel featuring the three MDs of production company Shiny Button will demonstrate how the cult BBC Three show has taken the small screen by storm. Executive Producer Andy Brereton (Drunk History, Crackanory), Director James De Frond (The Morgana Show, Revolting) and star, writer and BAFTA winner Tom Davis will be in discussion chaired by recurring MiS actor and fellow TVO regular Cariad Lloyd. Tickets are only £6 and are available here.
Then at 15:45, Peter Middleton and James Spinney the writers and directors of Notes on Blindness (which starred Dan Skinner as writer and theologian John Hull), discuss how to go from the green light to red carpet with BAFTA’s Film Programme Manager, Mariayah Kaderbhai. Tickets are again, only £6, and are available here.
If you can’t attend either event, keep an eye on BAFTA’s social media accounts for nuggets of shiny gold info, and of course, you can catch the fantastic Murder in Successville on BBC iPlayer right now, or buy the brilliant Notes from Blindness on dvd, blu-ray or digital.
