Countdown To Taskmaster
The new series of Taskmaster, which features Noel Fielding on the team of contestants, kicks off on Dave on 25th April.
To advertise the forthcoming series, UKTV has asked the stars of the show, including Noel, Lolly Adefope, Mel Giedroyc, Hugh Dennis and Joe Lycett, to design the launch campaign.
In keeping with the premise of the show (to accept challenges set by Taskmaster, Greg Davies, and his assistant, Alex Horne) they were each given a 48 sheet billboard poster and art supplies, along with a note that read: “Dave has put you in control of its advertising. Design the billboard for the new series. You have 30 minutes – your time starts now.” You can see the fruits of Noel’s labour below.
The final poster designs along with filmed footage of the task, will be used as the advertising campaign for the new series – which is yet to run. A ‘making the advertising’ short content programme has also been produced for the free TV streaming service, UKTV Play. The public will be invited to decide which contestant is crowned the winner of the poster design task, the result of which will be announced before the first episode airs on 25 April. Given that Noel’s the only contestant with several art shows under his belt, we’re hoping that he garners plenty of votes; we’ll let you know how, where and when to cast yours!
Having seen some of the filming of the new series ourselves, we can safely say that Fielding fans are in for a treat. The task format is perfectly suited to his uniquely lateral way of thinking – which makes for very entertaining interpretations of the briefs that Greg Davies provides!
And finally, on the subject of Noel and art, he was spotted earlier today sitting for the participants of Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year 2018 competition. Based on previous years’ schedules, we expect this to be televised on Sky Arts in January 2018. We’ll keep you posted as/when we hear any more.
