Shelley-dorm! Longworth returns for Benidorm Series 9
Shelley Longworth will appear in the new series of ITV’s love-it-or-loathe-it sitcom Benidorm which begins this week.
The Ealing Live veteran is best known to TVO readers for her work on tittybangbang, Angelo’s, BBC Nought, Jackal Films and most recently a rather revealing cameo in Aaaaaaaah!
However, Longworth was also a series regular in Derren Little’s sun and smut sensation for the fourth and fifth series in 2011 and 2012, joining fellow TVO regulars Nicholas Burns and Steve Pemberton for frolics and fiestas (while Geoffrey McGivern and Colin Hoult also made guest appearances a few years ago). In fact, in spite of some severe critical snobbery at times, Benidorm remains a show that can manage to pull in not only massive audiences for its broad gags and likeable characters, but scores some great casting choices too.
Burns and Pemberton have sadly long since departed the show, but Longworth’s character Sam will be making a comeback this year, alongside longstanding cast members Johnny Vegas, Tim Healey, Sherrie Hewson and Tony Maudsley, plus Brian Pern regular Nigel Havers for good measure.
Given Longworth has spent much of the last few years off camera providing voices to various children’s animations, we here at TVO are very happy to see this talented lady back on the screen as last.
Fans of the show – and Shelley – can check out the new nine-part run starting at 9pm on Wednesday 1st March on ITV. You can see a trailer below.
