Inside No. 9 will soon be back on our screens for its third series, so here’s a quick roundup of everything we know about the new episodes so far.
Since series two ended in April 2015 (which seems like forever ago!) we’ve been eagerly awaiting the return of Inside No. 9… Well, it has now been reported by the Guardian that Shearsmith & Pemberton’s masterpiece of dark comedy will return for a Christmas special, with series producer Adam Tandy confirming the news on Twitter.
No word yet on the details of this Christmas special, but we would put money on it being The Devil of Christmas – an episode which had a preview screening at Starburst Film Festival back in August. With a cast including Rula Lenska and Jessica Raine, alongside Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton of course, The Devil of Christmas takes place in an alpine chalet in 1978 and features the Krampus – a terrifying creature from Austrian folklore. The episode has been shot using old-style cameras in 4×3 as an homage to anthology series of the 1970s, and you can see an image of the cast in costume below.
As for the rest of series three, episode settings that have been mentioned so far are a restaurant after closing time, an art gallery and a karaoke booth.
TVO regulars among the cast will include Morgana Robinson, Mat Baynton, Alexandra Roach (Hunderby) and Jason Watkins (Psychoville). Also on board are Felicity Kendal, Fiona Shaw, Keeley Hawes, Philip Glenister, Sarah Hadland, Tamzin Outhwaite and Javone Prince.
