For the uninitiated (warning: you may be on the wrong website) – Prevenge is written by, directed by and stars Alice Lowe alongside Kate Dickie, Mike Wozniak and fellow TVO regulars Gemma WhelanKayvan NovakTom DavisDan Skinner and Tom Meeten, and a cameo appearance by Alice’s regular collaborator Jacqueline Wright.

This tale of a pregnant woman who loses grip on reality and embarks on a revenge killing spree has been garnering rave reviews at its initial screenings across the world, and will be opening HOME’s FilmFear mini-season on Thursday, 27th October. Tickets are available over yonder.

Also screening in Manchester for the first time during the limited season is The Ghoul – written and directed by Gareth Tunley, and also featuring Tom Meeten, Dan Skinner and Alice Lowe alongside fellow TVOers Rufus JonesGeoffrey McGivernPaul KayeRachel Stubbings and Waen Shepherd – the latter of whom has also composed the film’s soundtrack.

This film about a detective who goes undercover as a psychotherapy patient in an attempt to solve an unusual double murder case is as far removed from CSI as that description fails to be, and is a dark masterpiece that again – has been given rave reviews so far. HOME will be screening it on Sunday, 30th October, and tickets are available over yonder.

While both films continue to make appearances at film festivals, it’s still early days regarding a wider release for either movie. As soon as we hear of a theatrical or home media release, we’ll let you know, so stay peeled.
