Return of the Smeg-Heads
You’d have to be living under a rock to be unaware of the return of Red Dwarf to our screens, with Episode One of the show’s eleventh series set to air on Dave this week.
The long-running sci-fi show, which ran for eight series on BBC Two between 1988 and 1998, before being revived by Dave in 2009 and 2012, has a further twelve episodes in the can across two series shot back-to-back, with Red Dwarf XII set to air next year during the show’s 29th anniversary.
We told you a few months ago that the new episodes would feature some TVO related guest stars, and had hoped to reveal more in due course. Sadly, the secrecy surrounding the show (a co-production between Grant Naylor Productions, Baby Cow and UKTV) is so great that we are still unable to tell you exactly who you can see, and in which episodes. We’ve asked, we’ve begged, we’ve pleaded, but unfortunately the guest cast must remain a big ol’ secret… for now.
What we can tell you is that Episode One, which has been available on UKTV Play for the last six days ahead of transmission this Thursday, features a brief appearance by Kevin Eldon as an evil simulant intent on erasing mankind’s technological advancement by travelling back in time and… well, spoilers if you haven’t seen it, yet, and we must play it safe!
There are at least two OTHER TVO regulars appearing across the twelve episodes filmed earlier this year, and as soon as we are allowed to reveal them, we’ll do so, and hopefully share photos of them in action. In the meantime, you can see every episode ahead of transmission via UKTV Play, and each episode airs on Thursday nights at 10pm exclusively on Dave.
Tell us what you think!
