Jonny and the Baptists are joining forces with Rachel Parris to create a festive show in Oxford this December.
Yes, August has been and gone and as the Western World turns its eye towards talk of the tubby bloke in a big red suit, there’s another self-proclaimed ‘larger man’ in a red jumper who has written a brand new stage play for the holiday season.
Jonny Donahoe – one half of Jonny and the Baptists and co-writer of the sublime Every Brilliant Thing, has scripted 30 Christmases – in which he teams up with Murder in Successville, Godless and Austentatious star Rachel Parris as a couple who haven’t had a good Christmas in years, but are determined they’re going to get it right, this time.
‘The Baptists’ – aka Paddy Gervers – is also on board, and the musical duo have stuffed the show with brand new songs for good measure. 30 Christmases will be filled with laughter and love, and we’re itching to see the results… with any luck, this Christmas show for grownups will become a hardy perennial.
The debut run of 30 Christmases is at prestigious Oxford venue The Old Fire Station from Tuesday 13th to Friday 23rd December. Tickets are on sale over yonder, so get decking those halls now!
