The film has been written by James Mullinger, a former journalist turned comedian, and is based on his early career. James Buckley (The Inbetweeners) stars as a struggling stand-up who interviews much more successful comedians in his day job as a magazine writer.
The cast features Paul Kaye as James’ boss, Kevin Eldon as his LA driver and Richard Sandling as a rival stand-up, as well as several comedians playing versions of themselves, including Jimmy Carr, Omid Djalili, Gilbert Gottfried and Mike Wilmot. Also on board are Mark Heap (Green Wing), Tim McInnerny (Blackadder), Norman Pace (Hale & Pace) and MyAnna Buring (Downton Abbey).
The film has been directed and co-written by Mark Murphy (Awaiting), a long-term friend of James Mullinger, and is being distributed by Signature Entertainment.
Following its premiere at the Just For Laughs comedy festival in July, it has now been announced that The Comedian’s Guide To Survival will be in selected UK cinemas from Friday 28th October. We at TVO can’t wait to see it!
