Diane Morgan is set to star in Motherland, a new comedy pilot from a powerhouse writing team – Sharon Horgan, Holly Walsh, Graham Linehan and Helen Linehan.

BBC Two describes Motherland as “a show all about navigating the trials and traumas of middle-class motherhood, looking at the competitive side and unromantic take on parenting – not the cute and acceptable public face of motherhood.”
Diane Morgan is playing Liz, a mum on the more “chaotic” end of the spectrum, while Lucy Punch is “Alpha-Mum” Amanda, who wants everything to be perfect. The cast is completed by Anna Maxwell-Martin, as a mum who’s somewhere in the middle of those two, and Paul Ready as a stay-at-home dad.
This is the second upcoming pilot from Merman, the production company set up by Sharon Horgan and Clelia Mountford, as The Circuit is coming soon to Channel 4. In addition to writing for Motherland, Graham Linehan has also directed it.
With a cast and creative team this impressive, Motherland is something we’re really excited about, and you should be too!
Motherland will air as part of the BBC’s Landmark Sitcom Season on Tuesday 6th September.
