Yonderland’s Back With A Bang
Yonderland, the surreal, silly (always in a good way) puppet-based show from the brilliant Horrible Histories/Bill team, will be returning to our screens for a third series – and the new series will be heralded with a preview screening, cast Q&A and ‘Funday workshop’.
In series three, the evil Imperatrix is no more; so with her gone, Negatus (Simon Farnaby, on hilariously OTT form) answers to no-one and can seize control of Yonderland for himself. Stephen Fry will be joining the cast for the new series as Cuddly Dick, a returning Elder, recently released from prison who has what sources refer to as “mysterious depths”.
Adam MacDonald, director of Sky 1, said: “After two successful series, it’s extremely exciting to be bringing back Yonderland to Sky 1 for a third adventure. The creative team and cast are exceptionally talented and this weirdly wonderful show is well-loved by our audience. With the brilliant addition of Stephen Fry, this is a comedic treat for the whole family.” If you haven’t seen Yonderland yet, think Monty Python with elves, but for kids (and the young at heart). It’s genuinely funny and well-written, and far too good for children.
The new series will air on Sky 1 in October (date tbc), but if you can’t wait that long two episodes will be screened as part of a “Funday Preview” at NFT in London on 25th September. The 50-minute screening begins at 12.30pm and will be followed by a Q&A with the cast. Ticket holders are also invited to participate in a Yonderland drop-in workshop in the NFT foyer from 10.30am, “where dark forces are eliminated and silliness prevails!”
Further information and tickets for the event are available here, priced from £4-£11.75. Hurry though – seats are selling fast!
