Matt Berry To Voice New Asterix Film
The UK adaptation of the 2014 animated French film Asterix: The Mansions of the Gods will be released in UK cinemas this summer.
Matt Berry will be voicing one of the characters in the film although, sadly, it won’t be one of the main duo; instead Asterix will be voiced by Jack Whitehall, with Nick Frost on Obelix duties. Greg Davies, Catherine Tate, Harry Enfield, Richard McCourt & Dominic Wood (Dick & Dom) and Jim Broadbent will also star.
The Mansions of the Gods was the 17th volume of the Asterix comic book series by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo, and was originally serialised in 1971. The storyline revolves around Caesar’s plans to absorb the Gaulish villagers into Roman culture by having an estate built next to the village to start a new Roman colony.
The film will be released in 3D and 2D in UK cinemas from 19 August 2016. In the meantime, here’s the official French trailer (with English subtitles) to keep you going:
