Some comedy faces familiar to TVO readers are confirmed to appear in the film alongside Ricky Gervais, reprising his David Brent character from The Office. The mockumentary will follow Brent’s attempts to make it as the frontman of a band, after leaving Wernham Hogg Paper Company behind.
Doc Brown, who appeared in Gervais’ Derek on Channel 4 and the David Brent music video ‘Equality Street’, will be playing a reluctant member of Brent’s band and features heavily in the trailer. Eagle-eyed TVO readers will remember that the rapper/comedian was most recently on our screens in Murder In Successville as Lewis Hamilton, performing under his real name Ben Bailey Smith.
The film’s cast also includes Roisin Conaty (Man Down) who makes a brief appearance at the end of the trailer, as well as Kevin Bishop (Star Stories) and Diane Morgan aka Philomena Cunk. No word yet on what parts Bishop and Morgan will be playing.
David Brent: Life on the Road is set to be released in UK and Irish cinemas on August 19th this year, and Netflix has bought the rights to it for the USA and more.
