Murder in Successville returns
Cult-hit BBC Three who-dunnit and big ol’ TVO favourite Murder in Successville returns to our screens from Wednesday 15th June.
The partially improvised detective comedy gameshow was a huge success for the channel last year, as the likes of Greg James, Dermot O’Leary and Kimberly Wyatt joined Tom Davis‘ gruff, uncompromising (okay, a little compromising) DI Sleet as he attempts to solve the cold-blooded killings of celebrity inhabitants of the fictional town of Successville.
Each inhabitant of the town is portrayed by a character comedian, including Sleet’s sweary DCI Gordon Ramsey (a pitch perfect Liam Hourican) and the ever put upon policeman Sid (TVO’s Nico Tatarowicz).
Last year‘s first series, which was written by Davis & Tatarowicz alongside Toby Davis (Psychobitches, Crackanory, Pixelface) and Jason Hazeley & Joel Morris (Cunk on Shakespeare, Yonderland, It’s Kevin) – also featured the likes of Dan Skinner (as Bob Geldolf), Gemma Whelan (as Adele), Harry Peacock (Niall Horan), Tony Way (Harry Styles), Colin Hoult (Gary Barlow & Jimmy Carr), Carriad Lloyd (various inhabitants!) and Tom Meeten (Richard Hammond) to name but a few. As if that wasn’t enough of a TVO connection, music for the whole run was courtesy of Waen Shepherd!
Now the show is set to return for another five episodes via BBC Three’s new home online. Helping Sleet on his cases in 2016 are: Vicky Pattison, Mark Wright, George Shelley, Chris Kamara and Emma Bunton, while the town’s inhabitants under suspicion will include Cara Delevingne, Frankie Boyle, Paul Hollywood, Kanye West, Lorraine Kelly and Jeremy Kyle – all played by the supporting cast of great comic talents.
TVO can exclusively reveal that this year’s episodes will feature Justin Edwards, Colin Hoult, Cariad Lloyd, Tony Way, Ellie White and most surprisingly of all: Paul Kaye. Plus a big surprise we can reveal next week. Also featuring are returning cast members Luke Kempner, Marie Lawrence and Jason Lewis, plus Kerry Howard and former Star Stories regular Kevin Bishop.
We’ll be bringing you a sneaky peek of the more Velvety members of the cast soon, alongside a preview of the first episode, so stay peeled. Until then, you can revisit the whole first series now via BBC Store.
