Brakes, the debut feature film by Mercedes Grower which features a whole host of TVO talent, will be screening at the Edinburgh International Film festival in June.
The dark comedy traces the emotionally heightened pivot points at the end and beginning of nine different relationships. Four years in the making, Brakes has been a real labour of love for its director – and based on its awesome cast and Mercedes’ unique filmic style, we’re in for a real treat!
The cast includes Julian Barratt, Julia Davis, Noel Fielding, Steve Oram, Seb Cardinal and Mercedes herself (for the full cast listing – and there are some brilliant non-TVO folk in there – take a look at the film’s facebook page).
Brakes will be screening at the film festival in Edinburgh on Friday 17th June (Cineworld) and Sunday 19th June (Filmhouse 2). Tickets are available to buy now (for members) or from Friday (non members) here.
For those of us who can’t make it to the festival, here’s the trailer to keep you going:
We hope to be chatting to Mercedes about Brakes in the very near future, so keep your eyes peeled for more news about the film and other screenings.
