Welcome back to The Velvet Onion: our long-standing home for alternative and ‘New Wave’ comedy.

We decided to temporarily close the site in January for a structural overhaul, which admittedly took a little longer than we’d hoped, but we hope you agree the results speak for themselves.

Gone is the antiquated ‘blog’ look, and in its place is a sleek new home-page and proper sections for the various types of content we bring you on a regular basis. We’ve also plundered through six years of news posts, archiving the no longer relevant or interesting content, and revamping some of our most popular material to feel a bit more ‘2016’.

This, of course, is only the beginning: our Encounter at Farpoint, shall we say. Over the coming months, we’ll be bringing you all our usual news, reviews, interviews and more. We’ll also be looking into ways to expand our content, through more video material, social media tinkerings, and some new projects we’re hoping to get off the ground asap.

But more on that later. Sit back, relax and take a look around. Rediscover old greats, and prepare yourself for brand new ones. This is a new beginning, and it’s going to get even better…
