Twenty years since his first, and only festive special, ended in disaster for Norwich’s most infamous broadcaster Alan Partidge, he returns to Prime Time mainstream TV this Christmas as co-presenter of the TFI Friday Christmas special.
Regular host Chris Evans will be joined by Alan for a 90-minute festive feast of fun on Channel 4. This marks the broadcasters return to the limelight for the first time since his Comic Relief broadcasting several years ago.
In the interim, Alan’s producer – comedy legend Steve Coogan – has documented the chattyman’s life with the Sky Atlantic series Mid Morning Matters, and even portrayed Alan in a film about his real life involvement in a hostage encounter, Alpha Papa.
The live show was offered to Alan’s digital radio employers North Norfolk Digital for first refusal on the historic broadcast, but elected to stick with their original plan to air the Christmas light switch-on in Hemsby.
Instead celebrity guests including James Corden, Sir Tom Jones, Jack Whitehall, Lee Mack, Bryan Adams, Lianne La Havas and Elle King will appear on the home of TFI – Channel 4 on Friday 18th December.
Chris Evans told Radio Times: “Having staggered through nearly 200 TFI Friday rehearsals and live shows over the years, it’ll be a relief to see how it should be done by Norfolk’s master of broadcasting.”
Alan Partridge added: “’I was honoured to receive the invitation to co-present ‘Thank Frig It’s Friday’. The fee being offered was more than generous, and as soon as I received photographic evidence that my dressing room had its own shower, I signed on the dotted line. My only slight niggle is that they refused to pay for my transport.’
The show on 18th December starts at 7:30pm. Don’t miss it!
