View the Humans

This weekend sees the launch of Channel 4’s sci-fi drama Humans – made in collaboration with US broadcaster AMC and British production company Kudos – and naturally, we’re getting hyped about it because it contains a sprinkling of TVO regulars for good measure.

Set in a world where a synthetic human – or Synth – is the must have accessory, Katherine Parkinson stars as Laura, whose husband Joe (Dead Boss star Tom Goodman-Hill) brings one home for the family. But there’s something very strange about the Synth, which they dub Anita (Submarine‘s Gemma Chan), and soon their lives begin to unravel.

Elsewhere, pensioner George Millican (US acting veteran William Hurt) has developed a paternal relationship with his own Synth (Game of Thrones star Will Tudor), but a malfunction threatens their perfect set-up, as does the arrival of a new Synth, Vera, played with cold relish by Rebecca Front.

Also featuring Colin Morgan (Merlin, The Fall), Emily Berrington (24: Live Another Day) and Ivanno Jeremiah (The Jury), the series also features guest appearances from Jonathan Aris (Sherlock, Sightseers), Neil Maskell (Utopia, Kill List), Danny Webb (Alien³), Naoko Mori (Torchwood), and two other TVO talents: Dan Tetsell as the Synth Salesman in the first episode, and Paul Kaye as Synth expert Silas Carek in Episode Two.

You can see a gallery of images below, including glimpses at Parkinson, Front, Tetsell & Kaye, and see the show for yourself at 9pm on Sunday evening. Humans is also available to pre-order for £14 on dvd now via The Velvet Onion Amazon Store: if we hear of a blu-ray release too, we’ll let you know. US audiences will be able to see the show on AMC later this year.
