New Movie For Alice, Dolly & Laura
Alice Lowe, Dolly Wells and Laura Patch will be appearing together in a new film, Black Mountain Poets , planned for release later this yea.
Also starring Downtown Abbey’s Tom Cullen, the film is the final part of director Jamie Adams’ trilogy of improvised movies; the first of which was Benny & Jolene (starring Submarine’s Craig Roberts and Dolly, and also featuring Laura), followed by A Wonderful Christmas Time, which was the first UK movie to be released exclusively on demand for a month before its cinema release.
Black Mountain Poets is a fully-improvised comedy about relationships, and it was shot over five days in October 2014 in the Black Mountains of Wales. It will be released theatrically and on demand this autumn, self-distributed by Cardiff-based Jolene Films. As soon as we hear any more about it, we’ll be sure to let you know!
Fans of Alice Lowe may be interested to know that there are still a small handful of tickets available for her forthcoming talk at the Arthouse Cinema in Crouch End, London. Alice will talking about women in film, with reference to her fascination for the work of Glenn Close. The event takes place at 8pm on 14th April and tickets are available here. Be quick though – they’re nearly all gone!
