Booking has opened up for the pilot recording of That’s Rich – the new sitcom project starring Rich Fulcher, and TVO readers have a slightly better chance of getting access to tickets than anyone else.
Whilst initial reports on the project back in January indicated it would be a one-off non-broadcast pilot set in a porn shop struggling against online competitors, the show has begun to shift and take on new form in the hopes of becoming a full commission.
Now set in a family-run junk shop, That’s Rich follows the the trials and tribulations of a man who doesn’t know the difference between a valuable cash-in-the-attic find and something nobody in their right mind would buy. In other words, he’s an idiot.
Rich is aided by his son Alistair, who feels that his business acumen is begin wasted and hopes one day to work for Alan Sugar. Other characters on the high street include his best friend Dalton: a jacket potato shop owner who’s got ‘potatoes on the brain’ and business rival Fantasio: an egomaniacal hairdresser who runs a salon/art gallery. Richard’s biggest enemy is Margaret: a community police officer who thinks she’s Cagney…. or Lacey, depending on the day!
The pilot will be recorded at 7pm on Monday 16th March at The ITV London Studios on South Bank, and SRO Audiences have very kindly offered readers of The Velvet Onion a priority access prize draw.
To enter the draw, simply apply for a pair of tickets to the show via their website, and put the words “Velvet Onion” in the final box marked ‘Comments and other information’ underneath your personal details, and directly above the submit button.
25 lucky applicants will be selected at random by the SRO Audiences team, and given two pairs of tickets to the recording. Successful applicants must be able to travel to the studios themselves, as neither TVO nor SRO will provide transport – and anyone who accepts tickets but fails to attend without good reason will be struck from TVO’s competitions list, so please be certain you can make it before applying!
As soon as we’re able to tell you more about It’s Rich, whether it be a series commission (we live in hope) or details of the cast and creative team, we’ll be sure to fill you in. Until then, you know the drill… just stay peeled.
