Presenting Pompidou
A series of promotional images for Pompidou – the new (mostly) silent comedy from the brain of Matt Lucas – have been released.
Earlier this weekend, you may have noticed TVO get a little weird, as our language barrier collapsed into Pompidou territory, in celebration of the release of the first Pompidou trailer. The show stars Lucas as the titular aristocrat, who is as pompous as he is penniless, as loveable as he is tubby and eccentric. He is all of those things in abundance – an elderly oddball who has fallen on hard times, and is forced to live in a knackered old caravan in front of his now crumbling estate.
Alex MacQueen (Hunderby, The Thick of It, Doctor Who) stars as Pompidou’s crusty butler Hove, and the series also features appearances from Tony Way, Alex Lowe (Barry from Watford), Jane Asher, Bella Emberg, Anita Dobson and Roy Barraclough.
It all looks utterly bonkers in the most charming manner, and the curious amongst you won’t have to wait much longer: The show begins its first series at 6:30pm on Sunday, 1st March on BBC Two. You can see a gallery of images from the first episode below.
