Richard Glover will be joining an all-star cast of Hollywood A-listers in the forthcoming Disney feature film Into The Woods.
The film is based on Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s musical, and offers a modern twist on the Brothers Grimm fairy tales, intertwining the plots of a few of the stories and exploring the consequences of the characters’ wishes and quests. It follows the classic tales of Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Rapunzel—all tied together by an original story involving a baker and his wife, their wish to begin a family and their interaction with the witch who has put a curse on them.
Directed by Rob Marshall, the cast for for Into the Wood includes Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp, Emily Blunt, Chris Pine, Anna Kendrick, Christine Baranski and Tracy Ullman. Richard Glover plays the part of the steward. Production has been taking place in the UK, with location filming in Hambleden and studio work at Shepperton Studios.
The US release date has been given as 25th December 2014 (although we’re not sure who goes to the cinema on Christmas day – it’s not as if there aren’t any films on the telly!), although the UK release hasn’t yet been confirmed.
While there have been a few well-placed leaks about the film across social media, ‘official’ news is a tad thin on the ground. If we hear any more about Rich’s involvement, we’ll let you know!
