Sticky Wickets

Next week sees the release of Sticky Wickets – the long awaited second album from The Duckworth Lewis Method – and as with their first album, a regular collaborator with TVO credentials is involved.
The band are comprised of Divine Comedy legend Neil Hannon and the frontman of seminal baroque band Pugwash, Thomas Walsh. Their 2009 self titled debut album featured guest narration from one Matt Berry (who recently toured with Pugwash as support), and Berry returns for the new album.
You can just about hear him on the choruses for lead single, It’s Just Not Cricket, which also features his cricket-white emblazoned groin on the single’s front cover! He also guests elsewhere on the record, which fuses trad-jazz elements with ELO-esque baroque-pop and slices of funk, disco-pop and rag-tag singalongs.
Gloriously British, you can pre-order the album now from The Velvet Onion Amazon Store. Catch the video for It’s Just Not Cricket below.
