New Wave On The Air Waves!
Finally, there’s an alternative comedy contender to the mainstream of Live at the Appollo and Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow! One-time Boosh collaborator, Stewart-Lee, is curating a new show on Comedy Central, featuring a few of our favourite new wave acts.
Alternative Comedy Experience airs from 5th February at 11pm on Comedy Central. It will offer an eclectic, offbeat cast of comics which he feels captures the ethos of alternative comedy’s early years from the 1970s/80s. Appearing on the show are TVO-related artists Paul Foot and Tony Law. The full line-up can be seen below.
For those of us who prefer a more interesting flavour to our TV-based live comedy, this is pretty darmed exciting – and well overdue! In the 12-part series Lee doesn’t perform any stand-up himself, but conducts brief interviews with the acts.
