Matt Berry has joined Neil Hannon and Pugwash to record a version of Jimmy Ruffin’s What Becomes Of The Broken Hearted as their contribution to The Shortest Night charity album. Every year The Sound Training Centre in Dublin records an album for a selected charity featuring some of the best Irish artists.
The album is due to be released on June 21st (the shortest night of the year), and all proceeds are going to the Dublin Simon Community, a charity that works with homeless people.
The theme of the album is songs that inspire hope and the main song is a version of Ben E. King’s Stand By Me. The other covers will be classic soul and Motown songs. Other contributors include Jape, Villagers, Bipolar Empire, Mick Pyro, The Pale, Propeller Palms (Everyday People), Solar Taxi (Respect) and others.
