Scribblings of a Madcap Shambleton

A new book about and by Noel Fielding will be hitting the shelves in October!

The book is titled Scribblings of a Madcap Shambleton, and its release is set to coincide with the Autumn broadcast of Noel’s new TV show for E4 Noel Fielding’s Luxury Comedy, which Fielding talked exclusively to The Velvet Onion about recently.

Information about the book is minimal at present.  So far we know that it will be published by Canongate and retail for £16.99, running to 220 pages. Canongate’s latest catalogue describes it as channeling “the creative influences of Henri Rousseau, Roy Lichtenstein and Salvador Dalí, through the strange and singular mind of Noel Fielding. Surreal.”  To read the listing in full see pages 36 and 37 of the catalogue.

The Velvet Onion was aiming to find out more details about the book before giving our faithful peelers the complete rundown, but the sheer volume of public interest in this news prompted us to ride the wave of joy at its announcement.  Rest assured as soon as we know any more about it than you do, we’ll be letting you in on the facts as soon as possible.

Will this book be available in the States as well around the time? I work for a Barnes and Noble and many of my customers and co-workers would be interested in this book.

  6. This is great news. I knew it had to happen at some point. Just when we thought Mr Fielding may be resting on his laurels somewhere in his Highgate appartment or stalking the woods looking for a magical happening he is in fact weaving an artistic blanket of some sorts. I love that image actually – him weaving a blanket full of strange and egotistical creatures running through a multi-coloured wood fractured with surreal and haunting images. Looking forward to the series in the autumn. Go Fielding and do a signing pointy face. You know you wanna! x

  15. Since I’m still a fledgling Boosh fan, I’m always hopeful for more of that, but I think Noel doing more art oriented things is great for him. As long as he keeps doing great creative work, I’ll be happy. 🙂

  16. The book and show sound good but as a long time Mighty Boosh fan since the radio show i’m sad that Julian and Noel seem to have lost all interest in the Boosh these days.
