The artists who we cover are no strangers to the world of advertising. Over the past couple of years we’ve witnessed Julian Barratt, Rich Fulcher, Matt Berry, Tom Meeten and Paul King entering the commercial zone. Well now there are a few more!
Barunka O’Shaughnessy has been spotted voicing a tomato in the new series of ads for Dominos Pizza. The series, titled Los Pasiones de la Familia Verduras, uses a mixture of animation and live footage to recreate a melodramatic South American soap…performed by vegetables (of course). The series has been created for the launch of Dominos Pizza’s Mexican range, and the films include a multiple choice interactive element at the end of the some of the episodes. As someone who works in the advertising industry (sorry), I can vouch for the fact that this is something ad folk get very excited about indeed. There are a whole bunch of them on youtube, and here’s one to give you a taster:
Next up we have Paul Kaye in a new ad for BetVictor sports betting. Kaye plays the role of Maurice, a man desperate to place a bet on sporting events and a penchant for croissants. I’m guessing this makes more sense if you’re into sport and/or betting. Take a look by clicking here.
Finally, an ad that hit our screens a while ago, but we didn’t get round to mentioning at the time: Richard Glover for Vision Express. We’re not too sure whether the monkeys in the ad have simply stolen his glasses or whether something more sinister is afoot, but the youtube comments about Richard’s performance and the ad in general are resoundingly positive: e.g. “When he slips i laf for hours”, “ad me in stitches!!! Funniest advert ever!!” Anyway, see what you think:
