Fulcher’s Oddities

As our Fulcher Fortnight continues it’s time to battle the unknown, or maybe rather the forgotten. Rich Fulcher is, as you possibly already know, not only part of The Mighty Boosh, Snuff Box and Eleanor the Tour Whore, he is a man of many faces and talents. His versatile characters in The Mighty Boosh are the perfect example of this, but we think you might have missed one or two others along the road…

Upright Citizens Brigade
Back in the day, Rich was one of the early members of the Upright Citizens Brigade, a comedy group from Chicago that performed improv and sketch comedy. At the USB website you can see Fulcher being a vital part of a Home Birth (every home birth needs pizza, right?), and watch Misfit Young Rumspringer Kosmos Lover also known as M.Y.R.K.L (say it out loud), in which an alien befriends Rich’s homeless person. Plenty of nutty butty mentions and weirdness, but funny – in an very odd way. Warning for offensive language.

Bury The Hatchet
Two sisters, one inheritance… a major stipulation. That is the premise of “Bury the Hatchet”, a surreal sitcom in which two sisters have to get along in order to get their father’s $500m inheritance. Fulcher plays Toby Shore, the lawyer that has to make sure the sisters live together in one house for 30 days, which proves to be harder than it might seem!   The whole sitcom can be seen over at Youtube.

Log.TV: News Log
Comedy? No, this is a serious news report! Dum dum dum duuu NEWS! Rich reports on the disturbing social trend of being old and still living at home. Those poor clueless people!  Except that he himself is still living with his mum. Ok, so maybe it isn’t the real news but it’s certainly a lot more entertaining. Get your dose of the “news”!

The Mainstage
As is often the case within the Booshniverse, our dear comedians and actors collaborate on projects. This time we get to see Alice Lowe interact with Fulcher in a three part mini pilot series called “The Mainstage”. In the third part, Lowe introduces us to Donkey Kong Junior, a band that is not from Sacramento. We’ll let you watch for yourself, but let’s just mention that Rich is wearing a brilliantly green shirt, and that the twists come thick and fast.  Be ready!

Artist of the Week
Eleanor The Tour Whore is an excellent groupie coach, but you might not know that before she arrived at the scene Fulcher was a tour trainer for the band The Bravery. After all, knowing all of the ins and outs of the music business is crucial. Marshall Staxx is the man to turn to because as Marshall says himself, “You know, bands these days they don’t actually know how to act on tour.” Luckily for The Bravery they get some expert help. When a band has doubts about what social cause to support, how to look good at photo shoots or how to properly trash a hotel… Rich aka Staxx will give you all this and more valuable advice in the MTV series “Artist of the Week”. Hey, who hasn’t dreamed about becoming a big rock star? These 40 second clips will help prepare you for your future career (but just remember we want free tickets to your next sold out show as a thanks)!

Octokids
You know the kind of videos you watch “just because” and then wonder what the heck you just saw? This could very possibly be one of those. Do you remember Nadya Suleman? No? How about Octomom? That should certainly ring a bell. She’s that rather scary lady who had loads of children, and we know this because the media went crazy about her some time ago. Another group of people that thrived on all the media frenzy around her was comedians. “Octokids” is a cartoon in which the children are still connected to Octomom by their umbilical cords. Yes, you read that right, and Richard Fulcher lends his voice to one of the kids. You really have to watch it to understand it. Warning for offensive language.
