Day 9 – Peel A Page Of Scribblings!

We hope that you’ve been enjoying the old mixed with the new as much as we have on our TVO Advent!
Today things get more than a bit exciting as we announce that we’re offering readers all over the world the chance to win some original proof prints from Scribblings Of A Madcap Shambleton!
Before Scribblings shone out from the shelves of our local bookshops each page of the book was printed onto 1-sided printing paper to view as proofs before all the final decisions were made by Fielding & Brown. We now have those proofs in our hot little hands - and soon you can too!
These A4 prints were kindly given to us by our very own Santa, Dave Brown, and we’re giving 5 lucky people the chance to win 2 pages each.
This competition is for ALL of you to get involved in (even our overseas peelers this time!) and it’s one where we want you to get into the Christmas spirit and get creative!
We’d like you send us your own version of a classic Christmas song or carol, amended to give it a Booshniverse flavour. The funnier, odder and more imaginative the better! Written lyrics are fine – there’s no need to record it (unless you particularly want to).
To give you some inspiration our very own nutball Velveteer Aggie has re-written a famous Christmas tune for you all:
Last Christmas
I gave you the funk
But as soon as I turned you ran away
This time
To save me from tears
I’ll give the ring to someone special
Once angered and twice rejected
I drink my Baileys
But you’re still on my mind
Tell me Howard,
Do you remember the boat times?
Well
It’s been many years
It doesn’t surprise me
I came to your house in disguise
With a note saying “I’m Old Gregg”
Now I know what a fool I’ve been
But if you danced with me now
I know you’d fool me again
Now it’s your turn! Please send your entries to submit@thevelvetonion.com – we’re after re-written lyrics to any classic Christmas song or carol. No other details are required with your entry, and if you are a winner you will be contacted on the closing date of Monday 26th December so we can get your full contact details.
Furthermore, please read the terms and conditions below before entering and prior to us announcing the winners:
There will be 5 winners only and all entries will be judged by The Velvet Onion team. The prizes were provided by Dave Brown with his full permission to disbribute to our readers. All entries must be sent to submit@thevelvetonion.com and no other form of contact. The Velvet Onion and Dave Brown have the sole decision as to what pages are awarded to the winners and the winners will be judged entirely fairly by The Velvet Onion team with no biased judgements towards any entries. One entry per person. Any entrants found making multiple entries from the same IP address will be disqualified, and banned from entering further competitions run by The Velvet Onion. If you firmly disagree with our results, email submit@thevelvetonion.com and we can provide evidence to support our decision. The Velvet Onion will not accept entries as replies to our Facebook/Twitter pages, messages on our forum or in comments under any posts. There is no monetary value to this competition and no cash alternative will be offered. The Velvet Onion reserve the right to withdraw this competition if any overriding issues arise.
To those of you who have asked for more information about the prize: each proof page looks like an A4 colour copy of one of the pages in the book. These prints were used by Noel and Dave to check the content of the book before it was printed. They were hand-delivered to us by Dave so we can be certain of their authenticity.
Hope that helps!
Great competition Velvet Onion!
Thanks for thinking of the non-UK fans!
I tried to send @thevelvetonion.com an email with my song but it said the email address was invalid.
Did you send the email to submit@thevelvetonion.com ? The address should work – emails are coming through.
