Chris Morris came home with a well deserved BAFTA Award for his movie directorial debut Four Lions last night.

The creator of Nathan Barley and star of The IT Crowd (as well as seminal non-Booshy but still utterly vital cult classics The Day Today, Brass Eye and Jam) was awarded the Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer for the film, which tells the tale of five would-be suicide bombers attempts to achieve martyrdom.

Morris himself was not at the ceremony, so the award was collected on his behalf by two of the film’s stars – Nigel Lindsay (Barry) and Adeel Akhtar (Faisal).  The film had also been nominated for the Outstanding British Film category, but lost out to The King’s Speech, which claimed the lions share of awards.

If you missed the ceremony, it is available on iPlayer for the next 7 days.  The category Four Lions won is 28 minutes in.
