New mockumentary sketch show Come Fly With Me, directed by Paul King, has debuted to impressive ratings despite a critical mauling.
The show, which is the first collaborative project between Matt Lucas & David Walliams post-Little Britain, also featured a surprise appearance from none other than Alice Lowe.
Initial overnight ratings suggest the first episode, broadcast on Christmas Day, was the third most watched program of the day with 10.3 million viewers – only marginally beaten by Doctor Who and top-rated program Eastenders on 11m. However, these initial ratings do not take into account timeshifted viewing – that is, people who recorded the show to watch it later – so the final figures may Eastenders fall beneath Come Fly With Me and Doctor Who!
The episode is available on iPlayer for the next seven days.
Keen-eyed viewers may also have spotted another Booshniverse face during Doctor Who – as a be-goggled manservant was played by Tim Plester, the writer and co-star of Ant Muzak alongside Oram & Meeten many years ago. It’s a small world, isn’t it?
The 2 most talented individuals in this country! Just so clever! Wish I could be part of this excellence. Keep it going after this series please……..
