I’m A Gag Hag

19 Aug

As Edinburgh dates for An Audience With Eleanor The Tour Whore begin to sell out, the show – created by Rich Fulcher and Dave Brown – looks set to become the hottest ticket in town between Aug 21st and 31st.  You can buy tickets yourself here.

There are also treats in store for anyone already in Edinburgh.  Rich and Eleanor will be out and about, wandering the streets of the city over the next few days.  If you see either of them, run over and say the words: I’m a gag hag!and you’ll receive a very special prize!

So what are you waiting for? Get prowling the streets of the city and track down that Fulcher!

Meanwhile, for everyone unable to get to Edinburgh, you can still get your dose of Fulcher goodness with two fresh videos featuring the man himself.  In the first, filmed during Rich’s visit to Ameoba Records in LA earlier this year, you can see what’s in his bag.  Watch it on their website here.

The second features the tour whore herself as she attempts to make a cooking show – with disastrous results!

And don’t forget, we have a competition of our own – open to all – just dress as one of Rich’s characters and send us a photo to be in with a chance of winning some signed goodies! For all the details, see this earlier peeling… and email eleanor@thevelvetonion.com with your pics asap!

Dead Happy Returns

Dead Happy – the short film starring Alice Lowe and Tom Meeten – is to get a second airing on Sky Movies HD at the end of the month.

The short first aired back in June, and tells the story of a bored Grim Reaper (Lowe), fed up with her 9-5 job and longing for love.  Directed by Nicky Lianos and written by David Lemon, the pilot also features David Bussell, who was behind the unbroadcast Missing Scene pilot featuring Alice & Kevin Eldon made earlier this year.

Dead Happy was funded by Sky Movies Indie HD after Lianos won a competition in The Independent newspaper.  You can see the film once more on the Sky Movies Indie channel on August 28th at 11:40pm, and on the HD version of the channel at the same time as well as an earlier showing at 5:40pm.  For further details, visit the UK TV Guide.

Nicky Lianos gave an interview to The Indpendent website back in June, which we somehow managed to miss on our peeling hunts.  You can catch up with us here. Meanwhile, you can catch the film’s Teaser Trailer and a making-of video at Nicky’s Vimeo page.

Four Lions – the controversial cinematic directorial debut by Chris Morris – comes to dvd and blu-ray later this month.

The film, which tells the tale of four would-be suicide bombers attempting to disrupt the London marathon, was a surprise smash hit on its theatrical release earlier this year, and features a notable cameo from Morris’ fellow Booshniverse cohort Julia Davis, alongside memorable appearances by The Actor Kevin Eldon, and a pre-Sherlock Benedict Cumberbatch.

You can read our review of the film right here, and then take our word for it and order the dvd or blu-ray right now via The Velvet Onion Amazon Store.

As we mentioned earlier this week in our launch post for Fulcher Fortnight – celebrating the coming of Eleanor to the Edinburgh Festival – we’re very lucky to offer you a truly unique competition.

We have a copy of Tiny Acts Of Rebellion signed by RICH FULCHER himself and an Eleanor ‘Gag-Hag’ t-shirt to give away to lucky TVO readers.  Our editor in chief is also heading on up to Eleanorburgh this weekend to provide you with an exclusive peel or two from the festival, so we may even be able to provide a few bonus prizes for runners up into the bargain.  Stay peeled for more info on the prize fund that could just grow and grow!

To be in with a chance of winning part of this expanding haul… simply send us a photo of yourself (or a friend/family member if you wish!) dressed up as one of Rich’s characters.

If you went to the Boosh tour as Eleanor, or decided to Fossil up for a fancy-dress party… or just have an Ape Of Death outfit on standby (you may be that way inclined!) – we’d love to see it!

Email us your photo to eleanor@thevelvetonion.com by Aug 28th.  Winners will be chosen by Rich Fulcher himself, and we’ll aim to publish the best entries on the site soon afterwards.
