Here’s one that slipped under our radar last month.
You may remember we reported on the news that The Mighty Boosh was to be released on dvd in Japan. As Boosh collectors rubbed their mitts with glee at the thought of owning such an unusual item, we completely failed to notice that a new Boosh dvd was released in Australia in March as well.
The show has been available there for some time, as most BBC releases work their way out there before very long thanks to the shared PAL viewing format. All three series, a standard boxset, the special edition featuring every episode plus extras, and both live tours have already been released in Australia and sold very well.
But for those who arn’t sure comes Comedy Bites: The Mighty Boosh – a taster set featuring the first three episodes of the show at a budget price. And its in privileged company – as part of a string of similar releases that also includes A Bit Of Fry & Laurie, Bottom, Dad’s Army, Fawlty Towers, French & Saunders, The Good Life, Open All Hours and The Vicar Of Dibley. Proof, if any was needed that the series has become a jewel in the BBC’s comedy crown… and a sizable money spinner for the corporation as well.
You can buy the entire collection from most entertainment retailers in Australia, including The Music Shop website and many more.
