Part 2 of Noel Fielding’s interview with Such Small Portions, given backstage after his gig at Just the Tonic on 12th March is now up on youtube.
The interview offers some fascinating insights into Noel’s approach to comedy writing, and provides some pointers as to possible future plans for his solo material. Says Noel, “I’m waiting for that moment when I’ve got 6 months and I can go: right, 3 months solid gigs, then a 3 month tour that’s amazing, then film it….make an album and a DVD. Then go ‘here you go, I did that’”.

This is excellent news to hear Noel speak personally about a tour, an album and/or comedy DVD being a bonus to that. Makes me feel bittersweet though as I was so excited to go over to see Noel Live when he announced his tour, then he canceled it. He obviously wasn’t ready yet and I believe he DID have a lot going on that he needed to re-think priorities. Many were disappointed with the Tour being canceled, yet being a firm believer in things happening for reasons I know even if Noel does book another Tour (assuming it will be a short tour only in the UK) at least there would be plenty of fans who are seeing him sharing with the rest of us across the globe and that a DVD and/or cd would be forthcoming. That’s good news. Take your time, Noel. It’ll be well worth it.
I like how you said “Noel Live” like it’s the name of the show.
